Sound Barrier Fencing Applications

Barriers are often used by acousticians and noise control engineers to reduce the noise from sources such as traffic, railroads, mechanical equipment, and many others. The noise reduction is achieved because the sound must diffract over the top or around the sides of the barrier. This diffraction scatters the sound so that less of it reaches the listener. When choosing a barrier structure, the engineer wants to be sure that the sound which goes through the barrier is insignificant in comparison with the sound which diffracts over the barrier.

Sound Barrier Fencing Application

Sound walls are used in many different aspects of construction. The standard type of sound wall is usually found alongside highways and freeways and can be built to varied heights. Many counties and municipalities require that sound barriers are used on arterial roadways which abut residential communities or commercial and industrial complexes. StoneTree™ Fence Walls are designed and engineered to fulfill many of these requirements.

Based on the architectural and structural design of the StoneTree™ wall system, acoustic engineers have found that the fence wall will meet or exceed the minimum criteria for reflective sound barriers.

StoneTree™ Fence Walls also provide an aesthetic benefit over most conventional sound barriers with the formed textured finish on both sides providing a highly decorative wall system for both the highway and residential or rear side of the wall.
